Restoration of Brierly Brook with installation of 16 structures, replanting riparian zone
In is the intent of the proposed project to further our existing restoration efforts in the West River watershed by continuing to restore Brierly Brook. The expansion and continuation of restoration efforts on these tributaries is necessary to help maximize the amount of available habitats, to further re-stabilize the ecosystem, to continue to promote biodiversity and to enhance fish populations. The proposed project will install 8 in stream structures in a reach of Brierly Brook, and to plant ~100 trees to aid in restoring the riparian zone. It is also our belief that the achievements of this project and of Habitat Unlimited’s work in general will help to foster environmental sustainability within the community through the demonstration of realized objectives and a positive interaction with the environment. This project will educate ~25 St. Francis Xavier University students about restoration project and stream ecology.
