Mushamush River Habitat Restoration Project

This project was a continuation of work that began several years ago in an attempt to recreate the natural meander pattern of the river. This section had been greatly altered over the years by man-made straightening and channelization to aid in the transportaion of logs during the spring run-off. The construction of 3 new deflectors progressed well during the summer months. The deflectors proved successful in addressing the required outcomes of project, specifically narrowing the channel width; forming a deeper channel with cooler, faster flowing water; providing cover; and creating a natural meander stream pattern.
