Description: In 2024, the Margaree Salmon Association (MSA) will continue their restoration work that they conduct in the tributaries of the Margaree River, as well as continue to execute their monitoring plan that began in 2023.
In consultation with The Nova Scotia Salmon Association’s (NSSA) habitat specialists, new restoration structures will be installed, and existing structures repaired. 20 new structures will be installed in Tompkin’s Brook, Stewart Brook and Mill Brook.
Following the monitoring plan established in 2023, monitoring activities will include eDNA collection, habitat suitability assessments, redd surveys, electrofishing, report writing, etc. An updated version of the monitoring plan will be completed by Dec. 1st, 2024.
MSA staff will assist visiting researchers with field work, installation or checking on equipment and data collection throughout the season. They will also assist DFO and Department of Inland Fisheries as needed.
