Improving the quality Laval River habitat

Recipient: Association de chasse et pêche de Forestville
Approved Amount: $6,400
Year Approved: 2015

Depending on Mother Nature, the water level of Laval River is sometimes low and sometimes high, and this goes on during every season. This explains why bank erosion involving sedimentation of spawning grounds is an important issue which is recognized. The goal of this project is to improve the quality of Laval River bed with bank rock filling and berm revegetation as well as analyzing the impact of the watercourse sedimentation on parr recruitment. Characterization and visual segmentation of the river will be completed. The river changes constantly because of the strike-slip fault of the berm resulting in an inappropriate salmon habitat.
