The Foundation for Conservation of Atlantic Salmon Announces Leadership Transition After Two Decades of Dedicated Service

Fredericton, New Brunswick – March 24, 2025 – The Foundation for Conservation of Atlantic Salmon (FCAS) today announced a significant change in leadership as it prepares to embark on a new chapter in its mission to protect and conserve Atlantic salmon. After two decades of exemplary service, Hon. Remi Bujold will step down as Chairman and President, passing the leadership baton to Raymond Lacroix, who has been named as his successor.

Under Bujold’s stewardship since the foundation’s inception, FCAS has made remarkable strides in financially supporting conservation groups, Indigenous groups, educational institutions, municipalities and others for the conservation of Atlantic salmon as well as creating opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. His passion, dedication, and vision have been instrumental in developing a sustainable funding source that have positively impacted salmon populations and their habitats. The Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and members of FCAS extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bujold for his unwavering commitment and significant contributions to the organization and the environment.

Raymond Lacroix, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in leadership roles and engagement in the conservation of Atlantic salmon, steps into this pivotal role with a shared commitment to the Foundation’s mission. His leadership is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to ongoing and future projects aimed at ensuring the sustainability of Atlantic salmon.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to lead FCAS for the past 20 years. I’m proud of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to seeing the organization continue to thrive under Raymond’s guidance,” said Rémi Bujold. “I have every confidence in his ability to continue our mission and drive further success in the years to come.”

The FCAS remains dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for Atlantic salmon through research, conservation actions, and community engagement. With this leadership transition, FCAS will continue to strengthen its impact and enhance its efforts in conservation.
