Salmon enhancement and monitoring program in Unama’ki Rivers through smolt monitoring, brood stock collection and aquaticbiomonitoring program

A rotary screw trap was installed in the Middle River, Nova Scotia between May 11 and June 10, 2011. Atlantic salmon were caudal fin-clipped and returned to the river. Approximately 240 Atlantic salmon were captured. Temperature taken at this time fell between 6 and 14 ºC.
Natural Resource Officers, Wagmetcook Fishery Guardians and Cape Breton University students all participated in collecting physical and biological data and putting the smolt wheel in the water.
