Atlantic Salmon Habitat Restoration Project

After severe flooding and climate change related extreme weather events in our region during the year of 2022, there is an urgent need to evaluate rivers for obstructions, resurvey culverts and infrastructure, and implement a remedy in order to ensure maximum salmon population growth.

As part of our evaluation process, we have identified three sites of erosion and natural damage which we would like to remedy under our Salmon Habitat Restoration project. The Three Rivers Mi’kmaq Band over the time of 4 weeks in 2023 will follow our action plan to pinpoint and execute the restoration of vital Atlantic Salmon habitat within our territory in pre-surveyed and documented sites.
