August 2014 Newsletter
August 4, 2014It’s late August and we are looking fall squarely in the eye. Personally, I like fall, as it’s that time of year when pleasant daytime temperatures and cool evenings lend themselves best to getting out in nature and casting a few salmon flies over fall run salmon.
Fall also means it’s time two of our biggest public relations and fundraising events. We are now in the midst of the ANBL “Protect Our Rivers – Protegeons nos Rivieres” sales event. There is a host of excellent wines, beers and spirits at NB Liquor stores across New Brunswick. All of the products included in the sale contribute from $.50 to $1.50 per item. Last year ANBL raised $136,000 and 100% of the funds went to community group projects in the province.
On Tuesday, 2 September we are holding a wine and food pairing tasting event at the York Street Station in Fredericton. This will be a fun and informative event guided by Doug Williams, one of the best sommeliers in eastern Canada and featuring gold label products from the “Protect Our Rivers – Protegeons nos Rivieres” sales event. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling us at 506-455-9900 or visiting Brewbakers Restaurant in Fredericton. I hope to see you there!
Also, don’t forget to start preparing your project submissions to get in on our $1 million total grant pool for 2015. Remember, our maximum grant is now $100,000 to accommodate more significant project proposals spanning up to 3 years in duration.
Yours in conservation,
Stephen Chase,
Executive Director
